LightDark Image Inverter is great for generating a complementary dark or light themed desktop wallpaper from an existing wallpaper image. If you have a desktop wallpaper image that fits best with dark appearance mode on your OS but is too dark when using light appearance mode, you can use this app to generate an inverted desktop wallpaper image that may fit better for light appearance mode and vice versa. The app takes image files and generates brightness inverted images while preserving hue. This makes the dark parts of the image become bright and vice versa, but keeps the color hue intact.

An alternate usage for LightDark is to generate inverted graphical assets to be used in the development of a website or software application.

LightDark Image Inverter is best suited to generate inverted images of minimalistic, geometric, textured, or patterned images. It does not produce aesthetic results for all images, especially images of people, some landscapes, or complicated scenery with shadows. A great source of images which can produce good results with this app is the Textures & Patterns category of Unsplash.com.
